Golf with Friends is an online golf video game developed by Australian online developer Blacklight Interactive and released by Team 17. The game was released in Early Access on Steam on 30 January 2021 and subsequently fully released on 24 May 2021 for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It can be purchased and downloaded for free from the official website, where in-game guides are available to teach players the various aspects of the game. However, players are encouraged to purchase the additional golf packs that feature special items and savings if desired. This golf game is not compatible on Nintendo Wii, which is a notable limitation.

Golf with Friends is an online multiplayer golf game that challenges the player’s cognitive skills and decision making skills by prompting them to make the correct shot while using the CGA format. The objective of the game is for the golfer to hit the ball into a specific hole using the least number of shots. Holes are comprised of two doorways that lead to the next one, which are color coded to signify which color represents the hole. The holes alternate between blue and red when the course is completed, giving golfers a new challenge every time they play. Mini golf courses come in different variations. Two of these golf mini golf courses are provided with the in-game download for free, while three additional holes only come with the purchase of the additional packs.

A major aspect of the game that sets it apart from other video games is its social aspect, as it allows up to four friends to connect and compete with each other. This provides an opportunity for the players to test out their golfing skills in a competitive environment. The golfer who strikes the ball the furthest into the hole wins. Different ranks are determined based on the score that each player receives. Unlike the game offered through Play station, customisation options available with the Golf with Friends PC version allow players to create their own custom rankings. This feature allows the player to see how their performance is ranked against other players and give them a sense of pride and accomplishment for a job well done.

Additional customization options available to golfers include items such as club shafts, which vary in length according to the player’s height. This feature enables gamers to determine the right length of the club for their height. Additionally, customisation options include the thickness of the spikes on the golf ball, which adds a degree of realism to the game. This feature is only available in the multiplayer mode of the game, where one player will serve from a random selection of clubs.

While not being featured in this release, the developers have confirmed that the Xbox game pass feature in the application will also be included in the upcoming update. The game pass enables users to unlock a variety of additions and upgrades not currently featured in the single player version of the game. These additions include new courses, new art, new items, and new challenges. While the game does not yet feature a ranking system like that of the classic mode, players can still build up their high scores by playing against the computer or another player using the Xbox Game Pass.

It is expected that the Friends update will be released in March, with the beta due to launch later in March. Those who purchase the game before its release will get a free copy of the upgraded version. No word has been made regarding whether or not the upgrade will be available for the other versions of the game or if the classic mode will not be featured in the upgrade.
